6. It is a one-on-one basketball competition

The first player shoots a shot. If the first player misses the shot, the second player shoots a shot, and so on. When one player makes a shot, the other player has to make the same shot. If the other player does not make the shot, he or she has an "H." And so it goes, through O R S and E.

The first one that misses enough shots to spell "horse" loses.

I've never heard of this but I didn't play any basketball as a kid other than in gym class.

You know what's really funny? When I was typing "gym class", I initially typed it as "gum" class. Paging Dr. Freud.

7. We played a horse-like game in our fraternity years ago...

...instead of a basketball and a hoop we used a golf ball, a putter, and the top part of a blender (for the hole). And, instead of getting a letter, as in H-O-R-S-E, you had to do a shot of vodka. Ah, youth! I got really hammered playing that game.
