HARRY POTTER ROCKS-----
I got plenty of sleep last night---I have a cold 12 pack in the fridge. A fresh pack of smokes---I am off to the bookstore in 15 minutes and I will by dawn tomorrow be the first 40 year old to have read the new Harry Potter book.....

2. Good luck!
I'm waiting until tomorrow to get it, but your way sounds fun, too! If I didn't have to work tomorrow, I'd probably do the same thing.

5. Do have fun.
I'll be working in the morning.

I'm not a Potter fan. I never got into the book. I enjoyed the movies, though.

6. The bookstore people didn't believe me
When I told them i sent my 9 year old away for the weekend to grandmas house just so I can read it first----I have to know what happened, and who the Half-Blood prince is---I am 300 pages in, and I have an idea who it might be and I am scared

9. I'll tell you who it is...
But only if you highlight this, which I hope you don't.

It's Severus Snape. Turns out his mother - who was a wizard - had the last name "Prince," and his father was a Muggle... so he was the half-blood Prince. The brilliance with the potions was all you needed.

Snape's turned out to be a rather tragic character. I was really hoping for his redemption, but he turned out to be worthy of nothing but contempt. The only selfless thing he's done is to save Draco Malfoy from being a killer.

I wish we'd gotten to see more of Snape's DADA classes. The thing that I'm still surprised about is just how formidable Snape turned out to be. Harry Potter held his own against Bellatrix Lestrange and other Death Eaters... but Snape took care of him effortlessly when escaping Hogwarts.

Perhaps Rowling will have Snape figure into Voldemort's death in some fashion - perhaps unintentionally dooming Voldemort. Perhaps Snape will be Rowling's own Gollum. I'll say this, Snape had better hope he never runs into Hagrid, with Hagrid's abilities and giant-derived jinx resistance, because Hagrid would rend him limb from limb.

It was too bad that Neville Longbottom faded into the background so thoroughly. I really thought that Rowling was preparing to make something of him. And one more thing... I really wish someone would come up with a counterspell to the Avada Kedavra and Crucio curses. I'm getting damn tired of the Dark wizards having an advantage like that.

Again, it's going to be a LONG 3-4 years.

10. Okay - who dies????
The reviews say that a MAJOR character dies. I have a pretty good guess. I don't read the books, but do enjoy the films. I have to read too much technical crap to ever settle into reading fiction for leisure.

7. You're lucky I'm 37. :-)
I got home with the book at 12:15 and finished it in 4 hours... so I might have been the first 37-year-old through with it.
