Legal Advice, please - job related
Hey, does anyone out there have any suggestions or advice on a workplace issue?

There is a lower level manager - he's not my boss - we both report to the general manager. But he's in charge when the boss is away.

And he is an annoying rectal itch of a man - and a vocal, braying elephant lover.

Today he stupidly told one of our customers that a company that indirectly supports our operation couldn't perform well because their employees were lazy union bums.

Well, he and I had words right after because I felt he was judging the employees without any knowledge of the direction they were given. Later I realized I was also angry because the company he trashed is very, very important in our community - and he was putting our operation in jeopardy by running his mouth.

But he delights in verbal diarrhea, and his opinions are direct from Faux News. Most of our employees can't say a word when he runs his mouth - but I can and do - and am tired of it.

Is there any recourse in Texas (a right to work state) for me? Does this moron constitute a hostile workplace?

Urgh - I'm fed UP!!!

1. If you feel that he is putting your company in jeopardy by what he
says to customers, you should tell your supervisor.

4. You're right
and I had planned to talk to my boss Monday - but this is not the first incident. Not even the 101st incident.

And still it continues. So I kind of at the WTF does it matter point?

1)I tell my boss my concerns.
2)He yells at the moron.
3)The moron apologizes to my boss.
4) Moron bad-mouths me to everyone.
5)Everyone tells me.
6)I confront the moron or go back to the boss.
7) GOTO Step 2.

Until tonight, when I finally decided that something must change.

2. What caty said
This guy is disparaging entities in a way that is not in the best interests of his employer.

But, at first glance, I don't see any behavior that is "illegal."

3. Might Mention it To One of The Union's Reps
They might be interested - and can offer advice for you as well.

6. If It Were My Union ...
Well, let's just say Mr Loose Lips would be invited to some closed-door meetings.

7. No legal advice,
just like your way with words:
"And he is an annoying rectal itch of a man - and a vocal, braying elephant lover" :D
