Dammit! 2 hrs, 47 minutes till Harry Potter!!!
I like to be quite laid-back and calmly rational. But I like my general calm to be punctuated by exciting intervals.

This is an exciting interval!

Admittedly, it's only creeped up relatively late compared with previous years, but in the last hour I'm suddenly gripped by Harry Potter anticipation!

Maybe it was reading a line in a news story about one copy being accidently sold in Indianapolis. The guy who has it says "what J.K. Rowling is telling you is pretty shocking, considering the last five books."

Okay, I'm going at midnight. I don't care. I'm a dork.

6. I know. I've been tempted too.
But I ordered it from my friend's small bookstore and it would be creepy of me to back out on her. :D

12. I think Dumbledore may kick the bucket
I just don't see Snape doing it. You know Snape's really not a bad guy you know. Just very conflicted. (At least that's what my daughter tells me--and I trust her on all things Harry Potter)

15. In Britain's online betting thing, they have stopped taking bets
on Dumbledore. It seems that a very large chunk of bets coming in from the town where the last 5 books were printed, were all for him kicking the bucket.

4. When you're done with it, will you give me the spoilers?
I don't have time to read the whole thing, LOL, I only see the films.

But I do like spoilers!

7. Shahruke Khan?!
A fellow desi?

(Oh, and READ the BOOKS - they run by effortlessly - you don't need to budget more than 3 or 4 days - you could easily do it in a week, a few hours per day. And the books are FAR better than the movies).

14. Totally videshi, LOL, but I love Shah Rukh.
He turned me on to Hindi/Bollywood films (through DDLJ) and he has quickly become my #1 celebrity boyfriend. I just saw Dil Se and almost passed out from the hotness, LOL. I could go on for hours about both Bollywood and SRK, including my recent irritation that I have to read the subtitles instead of watching SRK and how I'm deciding whether to study Hindi or Urdu. It's like I'm 16 and I want to put his poster on my wall. :silly:

:loveya: :loveya:

17. haha
He's not a little old for you?

No, I'm just kidding, a lot of the desi girls i know are in love with him too.

Like you, I do want to learn Hindi. Hopefully I'll get to - I can only understand a little and say some phrases. But I guess if I make the time I can do it :)

20. He's just perfect the age he is, LOL.
I wish I had discovered him sooner, cause he's only going to be the leading man type for....I don't know, another 5 years or so.

He's only what, 12 years older than me I think. Pshaw, that ain't nothin'! The wife and two kids are more of an obstacle than age, LOL.

Hindi seems somewhat difficult--I don't know I'll ever be able to write it, but I would like to be able to hear/speak it.
:hi:

5. Better Hurry Up
I dropped my daughter off at a Barnes and Nobles around 5:30 and there was already a line. At this particular store they are giving out wrist bands at 6 to assure a place in line at midnight. And this is for the pre-orders.

Our post person told me today they were briefed about "wild" children during deliveries tomorrow.

I think it's exciting too.

16. Just an observation ...

Some people, well maybe a lot of people, think it is absurd to be on a midnight watch for some book.

Personally, it does my heart good to know what a book, with pages and words and everything, can generate this kind of excitement. People wait in line for hours to see bad movies and crappy music performed by bands that are too drunk or high to stand up, and that's apparently normal.

I won't be there at midnight simply because if I did do that, I'd be up all night reading, and I do have to work in the morning. But, I'm happy to see hysteria of this sort.
