Woo-Hoo - Battlestar Galactica, Season 2 premieres tonight
I've been dying to see this since the big cliffhanger ending of Season 1!

I'm also very happy that I've managed to avoid spoilers so far. Only a little more than 12 hours left to avoid them.

1. heh, yep
We (my fiancee and I) are going to a friend's house to watch.

She's got a big flat-screen TV (and satellite, which is important, since we only get the free network channels :D)

4. hopefully somebody else can fill you in better than I
I'm a bit swamped at work today...

But, it is a gritty science-fiction show that has been compared to "24" for its intensity-level. It is not all special effects and really emphasizes the characters and the conflicts between them.

The show started off about 40 years after the human of the 12 planets had defeated the rebellion of the robotic Cylons. The humans had created the Cylons to serve them, but then they became smarter & rebelled against their human masters. It was a big war & both sides suffered greatly.

After the war, a truce was reached and the Cylons "disappeared"

40 years later, the cylons had infiltrated human society with human-looking cylons, used their knowledge to cripple the human defenses and basically nuked the 12 planets into nigh oblivion. The returning cylons are now fundamentalist and have found a monotheistic god, while the humans worship a polytheistic pantheon of Greek gods.

The story is basically the remaining humans packed into a rag-tag fleet of space ships with maybe 150,000 survivors and their search for the mythical human planet of Earth and their attempt to avoid the cylons. The president is a woman that was like 42nd in the line of succession.

Hopefully somebody can fill you in more about the conflict & the like.
