Why we can't win
And why we need to do something about it. I was having my teeth cleaned today before I voted. We are having a high-profile vote on whether to allow an Indian casino built here in Maine.
Me: Are you going to vote today?
My dental hygienist: No, I won't vote. I couldn't make up my mind about the casino issue, so I won't vote. The ads were so confusing.
Me: But yu have the right to vote, but how do you feel?"
She: Well I would certainly vote against it, but truly I don't think my vote would really count. You know what happened to Gore.
Me: You don't trust the election process?
She: No
BIG BANG
Message: the average working American right now does not feel that their vote will be counted....SO WHY VOTE
as an aside: We can all sit here til Hell freezes over about what we think about a candidate or a particular issue, but cripto pete, we have to stop preaching to the choir and get off our DU ass and get out there and do something..........
your thoughts?

1. your hygenist has been sniffing too much gas
There's no reason a voter in goodie-goodie MAINE has any reason at all to supsect local or statewide vote-tampering. In Maine?!

2. Voter apathy is a major stumbling block
What's were the figures for the last prez election? Something like 11% of the population decided who was going to lead the most powerful nation on the face of the earth. Pretty disgusting when you think about it.

Over 200,000,000 people voted in 2000. How many voted for American Idol? 5,000,000?

3. So true
None of my friends vote at all. They say it won't make a difference and they're very bitter about the whole thing.
