Help! I can't find info on Demographics
I have a class tomorrow that I have to find info out on Demographics.

We need to look up areas to put a certain type of Restaurant in and I picked a Sports Bar.

I can't find any sites that lists Demographics such as Income, Marital Status, Etc.

I hate AOHELL.

1. American Demographics Magazine
They have an online version, but you have to be a subscriber to use the search feature. Maybe you can find a library that subscribes and get back issues.

2. The Claritas Prizm system is pretty useful.

You can type in a Zip code and it tells you the predominant types of people who live there.

For instance, in my Zip code, the top people are City Startups, Young Influentials, Middleburg Managers, Home Sweet Home and Brite Lites, Li'l City. (OK, so these are stupid names.) You then click on each to find out what they mean. (City Startups are young, multi-ethic, lower-income singles; Middleburg Managers are older, white, middle-class couples, etc.)

It can be a bit presumptive in its labeling, but it's still useful. And amusing.

Edited because Claritas is the name of the system; Caritas is the name of the bar in Angel.

5. Doesn't the City of Chicago site list the demographics for each
neighborhood? I'm sure they do. I also had to get demographics on a class project and I called the city to get the traffic volumes for the area. It enhanced my b-plan. Used Claritas as well but it was a bit too vague.

If you have a particular neighborhood in mind, you should be able to pull up info by name on Google.
