10. Nice choice.
And I like that Scorsese kept the Bernard Herrmann score for the remake.

4. The Thing?
The remake was a hopelessly gory, stupid movie. I had to turn it off. Dreadful, awful, worse than a waste of time.

I loved the remake of The Stepford Wives as a parody. If you wanted a straight remake you'd have to be disappointed, but it you take it for laughs, it was great!

5. "Pride and Prejudice"
OK, one is actually a mini-series (the fabulous 1994 BBC production with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth). The original I'm refering to is the Greer Garson/Lawrence Olivier version from the 30s. Really condensed and completely wrong costuming but still frothy and fun.

6. The Wizard of Oz.
The 1910 silent was a hoot, and the 1939 version is of course a classic. I'm trying to find a copy of the 1925 silent with Oliver Hardy.

Thanks;) I'm also thinking about disconnecting my cable, and joining Netflix. I'll miss TCM though.

14. Ah.... Liev Schreiber...
Manchurian Candidate was my pick too.

I thought all three main characters did a great job in both, and I liked the changes they made to the ending as well.

Why doesn't Liev Schreiber get more recognition? I think he's just fantastic.

19. I don't know if this one would counts - "Alien" and "It, The Terror From
Beyond Space". Technically, Alien was not a remake but it was heavily inspired by the earlier science fiction classic. Both films were great.
