Battlestar Galactica on NBC?
When did NBC start showing Battlestar Galactica? Is this just a summer thing? They are in the middle of Season 1 right now. At least this Friday new epiosodes start on SciFi with Season 2.

1. Sci Fi is owned by NBC now
This may be why they are showing it on NBC. USA, Sci Fi and Bravo are all under NBC Universal now

"July 9, 2005:
Looking to relive the best of Season One before Season Two premieres on SCI FI Friday, July 15, at 10/9C? Then tune in to your local NBC affiliate on Saturday, July 9, to watch three great Season One episodes of Battlestar Galactica in high-definition TV. (Check your local TV listings for air times.)"

You are probably right about cross-corporation showing. I do remember BG being shown on USA (also NBC owned) eariler this year.

SciFi always gets first showings and this may be a summer trial balloon to see if BG would make it to a weekly broadcast TV showing (besides just being on cable right now).

I do have my VCR set (sorry, not in the TIVO set yet) for this Friday, since this is the middle of summer and watching TV is not always the easiest thing.

On edit: Given it is apparently the mid-season episode and the last 2, there will be HUGE gaps for the ones who did not watch it week to week.

The opening is also edited with different background music and is much shorter.
