2. What's it made out of? Antique? New? Used?
A lot factors into that decision.

3. New
Or used. Not antique. I want one that can take my feet and pizza box drifts.

4. I confess:
Before I bought one, I'd probably go to craigslist and check the "free" section.

7. Depends on what you are looking for
you can get a cheap pre-fab 'put it together yourself' coffee table from Costco or Target for $25-$50.

Or you can get a solid wood, hand made coffee table from furniture builder for $500 or more

10. I went to a yard sale two years ago

and scooped an oval (roughly 4' x 3') antique table. Its got a gorgeous pink marble top. The base is veneer but in mint condition. It's wonderful and I can burn candles on it with no fear of fire. I love it and paid 100 bucks. Was worth it.

Good luck in your search. You're going to find something far more durable with a lot more character if you go for used/antique stuff.

IMHO
