1. I'm 37 and I can't imagine insuring that.
It is nice though. Isn't 19 a little early for a mid-life crisis? :7

3. Not sure about Eclipse but,
My Mom had a Chrysler convertible that had a very well insulated top.
She lives in upstate NY and being cold in the winter in her car was not a problem.

Does that help?????????

Buy it.

16. you must be talking about wind chills
which you will probably always have when you are driving anyway - a self created windchill. Sioux Falls is not that cold, it is not like Fargo.

6. Damn, is it at least front-wheel drive?
If not, I'd say no way. Though I do have a friend who's from Massachusetts who drives a rear-wheel drive convertable Mustang...

10. As a former Eclipse owner
from Northeast PA (lots of snow) I'd tell you that they are *horrible* in the snow. Plan on snow tires.

That being said, hope you're getting a manual transmission. Fun as all hell.

11. Look what you will be giving up for something that looks nice.
The money you will be blowing that could be used to get your life set up. You will be limitting yourself to how many friends you can take with you on trips. And the people that car will impress are probably not the type of people you want to attract.

18. yea, thats whats stopping me.
aside from the fact that a V6 will piss away the gas like no other. and that ill need it to last awhile. and convertables, sports cars, ect ect arent good in those kinda weather conditions. i really should just put it out of my head.

12. Very nice! But...
You're screwed when it comes to insurance. Hell, I just drive a Grand Am and I pay an insane amount of insurance every month.

13. Insurance..
Check w/ your insurance agent to see if it would be cheaper for your parents to put you on one of their cars and have them listed as the primary driver on this car. Even if they want you to pay for it, you could reimburse your parents and it might be cheaper.

That's what I do, it's finagle-ing the rules a bit, but it works.

The car is not the most practical..but keep that option in mind for whatever car you end up deciding on.

14. That would be completely irresponsible.....
which is why I'D probably do it in a heartbeat. When I was your age I bought a brand new 1970 340 Duster (muscle car) but those were the days when you could get a good paying job right out of high school.
Today, I'd probably think about it a little more. And then buy it.

Do what you have to do, it's your life. Make your choices, take the responsibility for them and don't look back.

20. "... take the responsibility for them and don't look back."
Sage advice if there ever were.

Whatever decision you make, dont look back. Never tell yourself you "should have done this." It's pointless and does no good. I keep trying to tell my wife this, but she doesn't get it.

As for the car, it's not the smartest purchase you could make, but you could work a rebate with the dealer so you could buy a LL Bean jacket to go with it. Can you at least get a seat warmer option with it?
