Please add any I may forget, and add your favorite Brits as well!

Here goes!

Anthony Hopkins, Michael Caine, Christopher Lee, Sean Connery, Alan Rickman, Ralph Fiennes, Ewan McGregor, Orlando Bloom, Christian Bale, Hugh Grant, Kate Winslet, Ian McDiarmid, The Monty Pythoners, Billy Connolly, Rowan Atkinson, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, The Beatles, Stones, Who, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Queen, Annie Lennox,Peter Gabriel....and the list goes on!

6. Absolutely! I love them both.
Robert Palmer didn't get the attention he deserved. His death really shocked me. Way too young.

With the big rack comment!

True about Turing, I watched an interesting doc on the Enigma on History Channel, I believe. That was truly a turning point in the war.

30. Wonderful mystery writers:
P.D. James, Ruth Rendell, Val McDermid (Scottish), Anne Perry, Denise Mina, Minette Walters, Reginald Hill, Colin Dexter, Kate Charles, Robert Barnard, Simon Brett, Iain Pears, Phil Rickman, all with a style, depth, and intelligence that most American writers can't come close to.

(By the way, Elizabeth George, Deborah Crombie, and Martha Grimes, whose novels are set in the U.K., are Americans.)

(aka "Johnny Rotten") who is one of Britain's greatest hell-raisers, and one of punk's great pioneers. (See my sig line pic...) :-) I love that man.

And you mentioned Jennifer Saunders, who is, of course, fabulous! But don't forget her husband Adrian Edmondson and his comic partner Rik Mayal of "The Young Ones!" Those guys are great!
