The most delicious beer in the world
for the money, that I ever enjoyed was a Czech pilsner called Radegast. Just after the fall of the Berlin wall, around 1992-3, I used to be able to buy Radegast at the local deli on West End Ave. in NYC on my way home from work for about $1/pint. It was just as delicious as the beer I'd had in Germany, unlike even the American versions of those German beers.

I haven't seen it anywhere since, though I have been to the breweries Web site. It's in Czech.

So here's to Radegast!

1. Ah, the Czechs....
I have such good memories of drinking tmave pivo, that fantastic black stuff. As a man said to me while over there, "The Germans make the best beer in the world. And they learned everything they know about beer from the Czechs."

24. Yep, Warsteiner is yummy...
I still remember the first time I had it, at the now defunct "Rudy's Beer Garden" in Brimfield. My husband and I were sitting on the outdoor patio on a warm, sunny afternoon; I was used to cheap beer and the rich taste of that beautiful golden brew went right to my head. I fell in love with Warsteiner on that day; alas, it's too expensive for me to buy as my regular brew.

6. Oh, I'm Sorry, That's Incorrect.
No prize for you. Best beer ever is the Long Beach Crude, brewed and served at the Belmont Brewing Company at Belmont Pier in Long Beach, California.

I'd like to agree with you on the Radegast (it's very good) but, alas, it's not the most delicious beer in the world.

I can give you no more than a B+ for this selection. Sorry. I don't make the rules, i just enforce the rules.

26. "Delicious Lager" is an oxymoran!
(Yes, 'moron' was deliberately misspelled)

I do not like lagers; they are fermented at lower temperatures and with specific yeast strains to give a very low ester profile; this is exactly why I prefer ales.

Granted, an ice-cold lager may be thirst-quenching, but if I'm thirsty, I'd rather have cold water.

Now, if I had to pick the best beer, I'd say any number of strong Belgian ales (dubbel, trippel, lambic, etc), russian imperial stout, barleywine... I like the high-gravity beers.

And they should be served no colder than 50 deg F.

31. I gotta go with
Theakston's Old Peculiar (draft). Old Hooky (Hook Norton) is right up there. Guiness of course.

But given a choice, I'll usually take Sauza Conmemorativo or Chinaco.
