Nursery rhymes and the psychotic people who wrote them
http://www.zelo.com/family/nursery/index.asp

Okay, who came up with these things? They speaketh only of death and despair.

"Little Miss Muffet, sat on a tuffet... along came a spider, and it sat right beside her... and it frightened ms muffet away" - reinforces the stereotype that women hate insects. And what the hell is a tuffet? Some say it is a stool, but if that's the case she ought to change her undies...

"An apple a day keeps the Doctor away". Well, bit into it wrong and you'll need to see a dentist. They cost as much and half of them think teeth grow back too (no joke).

"Baa baa black sheep" is the most racist piece of kkk propaganda I've ever read.

The entire story "Snow White" has got to be the most homoerotic book ever.

"Barber, barber, shave a pig" - pigs have hair? Where? Do I care?!

"Fee fi fo fum" - anti-anglo. 'nuff said

"Georgie Porgie" - whoever wrote it time travelled to 2004...

"Tinker taitor" - anti-jobless.

Or even being deprived of the worthy things in life:

"Give a dog a bone", for example, pertains to a single gay man.

"Baa baa black sheep" could also pertain to a guy we don't want to know anything about... especially when you add in the dame and the boy...

"Hot cross buns" - surely this does nothing more than to promote cheap prostitution? Two for a penny's rather a good deal... homosexuality too, "If you have no daughters, Give them to your sons!"

no comment

"Old Mother Hubbard" - I have no clue but little of it makes sense.

"Old mother goose" - yuck.

1. Even Google doesn't know what a tuffet is!
http://www.google.co.uk/search?biw=796&hl=en&q=define%3Atuffet&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

My motto, if Google doesn't know it, it isn't worth knowing.

On nursery rhymes, I heard that this one:

Ring-a-ring of roses,
a pocket full of posies,
atishoo! Atishoo!
We all fall down.

was about the black death.

2. Toad, you are the king of threads that get one reply
and then sink like stones!

And I know about that sort of thing. :)
