I'm a little rusty at the dating scene.

What's a good place to meet interesting men? :)

:D I really want to know. (I don't care for the bar scene)

10. But then you have to talk to them, LOL.
Are you good at that?

I'd try some of the places listed above...but I'm not good at flirting with guys I don't know/getting a guy to talk to me/picking up a guy in a random place. *That's* where I have a problem, not just meeting them.

19. As a single guy, let me caution on the "bookstore" etc. suggestions:
People often say women should meet men at the bookstore, the supermarket, etc.

I say NO.

Girls, the only kind of guy who is going to start flirting/hitting on you in places like that -- completely sober, under the harsh florescent lights of retail establishments -- is going to be a total operator/"playa" or whatever people are calling it these days. Stay away from those guys!

I actually come back to the bar option -- sure, the "bar scene" as we think of it is no good, instead, try to find a nice, pleasant, low-key bar in your neighborhood with a good vibe (and adaquate seating)-- you can meet some nice guys that way, I think, or at least have some good conversations with total strangers.

Happy hunting!

26. I met my husband in a bar.
We're both pretty nice. Sometimes, nice people go to bars. (Granted, it wasn't a typical "meat market" type joint, but it was a bar. I'd gone to see a favorite band of mine, and none of my friends was interested in going.)

29. Yep, you're right - Sometimes nice people go to bars -
Just find a nice one - of course no-one wants a meat-market place where, amongst other things, the music is so loud that conversation becomes impossible and there's never enough places to sit.

In fact, I think, honestly, it generally really is only bars where adults will have real conversations with people they didn't know beforehand. When Starbucks started up, people theorized(hoped) that they would become "third places" -- other than work, and home, where people would actually interact with fellow human beings. It didn't work. People go to places like Starbucks with friends, or meet friends there, but don't really talk to strangers at any great length.

There is something about alcohol which allows adults to talk to each other. Of course, I guess it would be a lot healthier if we could stay the way we were when we were kids, and we'd just go OUTSIDE and PLAY with each other. Too bad kids these days don't seem to have even that, in these days of Playstations and "play-dates."

33. I met my current bf the old fashoned way...
...in a bar!
I never looked to the bar scene for finding a mate, however I do enjoy getting out and listening to some good music every once in a while. It seems reasonable to me that one might meet a good friend in the same place.

Face it, guys are gonna go after what ever they can get, where ever they think they can find it, best to just keep your BS detector turned ON at all times and enjoy the hunt!

41. Are coffee shops good? They seem perfect, but I don't know if they work.
I am constantly in coffee shops, they would be a great alternative to bars. The downside is that not only are people sober, but they are alert.

21. How about the Y...M...C...A....!!!
Go there for a workout, take up swimming, or tennis, eventually someone shows up in the same situation....(you might have to go through lots of dead end work outs, but in the end you will have a great bod) ..... ready for some dating! Oh, and always go during the after-5 o'clock rush hour. For that matter, any sports club will do.

28. book store, D&D convention
at least you have a chance they are intelligent, too, when you're there.

Dungeons & Dragons convention - it's probably 80-90% guys, and many of them are available. Sure, many of them are geeks and/or lack social skills... but, most of them will bend over backwards to be nice to a woman because they aren't around them too often. (OK, being a bit humorous there...)
