2. I HAVE some freakin' antibiotics!
And I'm USING them! It still freaking hurts!

This is my second day on antibiotics -- when would it be appropriate to go back into the doctor's office?

11. My eardrum hasn't popped . . .
It's just infected. Should I EXPECT it to pop?

8. If it doesn't feel better tomorrow I would call your doctor
Antibiotics usually make it feel better after two days. I get ear aches at least once a year. I've got to go to the doctor, which I really hate doing since I have no insurance.

13. Give the antibiotics a chance to work. At least 5 days before
complaining to the doctor, unless you take a big trn for the worse or develope some other problems. I find a chat with the pharmacist us helpful in understanding how long some medication will take.

14. You don't want to mess around with ear infections
you can lose your hearing. Nothing wrong with giving the doctor a call tomorrow if it's not feeling better. Better to be safe than lose some of your hearing.

4. How I cure an earache
Just have someone whack me on the other side of my head. Hard.

Works like a charm! :silly:

But seriously, have you tried using one of those Murine or Bosch and Lomb ear cleaning kits? They've been a lifesaver to me more than once. At any rate, good luck. I hope it's just plugged and not an ear infection.

10. This remains a mystery to me, also, Goddess.
Goodness knows, there's not enough room (unless you are equipped with a Q-tip-sized "male member")...

Sounds very painful, as do other orifices not meant for this kind of penetration. Do I have to draw a picture?

I have no idea what others think, but as for me, I'll pass...

21. Basically in a nut shell
The joint where your jaw connects (right below your ear)
chew gum a lot?
grind your teeth much, maybe while sleeping?
Does this joint "pop" for you?
Causes some extreme pain for me when it goes off.

22. Ear pain- try this test. Alcohol/vinegar good for ear canal problems
Well, this doesn't apply to you , Chichiri, since you are taking antibiotics I guess you consulted a doctor and had middle ear infection diagnosed. I read that you don't have to rush kids to the doctor since earaches often go away after a couple of days.
<snip>
Swimmer's ear is an inflammation of the external ear canal. The result may be itching, pain or temporary hearing loss. After swimming or showering you may notice your hearing is fuzzy, which indicates water in the ear. There may also be an infection in the outer ear, too, that appears later. Use this simple test to see if you have swimmer's ear: grab your ear and pull it forward gently, and wiggle it. If the pain increases you more than likely have an ear problem that can be helped with one of the following remedies. If the pain stays the same, you may have a middle ear problem which will need medical attention. Other symptoms of an inner ear infection are: hearing loss, a yellowish or milky discharge from the ear, or a sudden, sharp pain in the ear.
