I am an anglophile
I know this is going to get the copycat threads going, but oh well!

I like Monty Python, Mr Bean, AbFab, The Beatles, and British Accents.
I think the British actors were better in Star Wars than the American ones, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford excluded.

I sometimes wonder if we might have been better off if we did not win the revolution. But, I don't wonder that for very long.

2. Would we be better off?
There was a documentary on the Battle of Yorktown last night. I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if Hood had defeated the French naval blockade and the Continentals ended up surrendering.

Sure, there wouldn't have been the Constitution. But I'll bet something similar would have come along. I bet slavery would have been abolished sooner. Would the U.S. be that's much different than Canada is now?

3. Yes, it is a question that I suppose is useless, but interesting
The royalty thing is sort of old-hat. But in many other things, the thinking is more advanced than ours collectively.

5. There's an interesting scenario.
What would have happened with India, I wonder.

6. I doubt it
The Empire was never about assimilation; there was always a strict line between Britain and the Empire. The American colonists would have been granted some more self-government (as happened quite quickly in Canada), and still have gone along your own path though more closely tied to Britain.

British territory in N. America would have stayed quite coast-hugging - there's no way that the Louisiana Purchase would have happened, thus keeping us from making such strong inroads to the interior. I can imagine a number of smallish scale border wars between British and French lands.
