My Friesian horse, Oliver
Since everyone is posting pretty pics of their pets, here's my special someone...and yes, he is tall, dark, and handsome :)

Oliver, at his keuring (judging) where he was Ster (the highest honor given to Friesian geldings) and Reserve Grand Champion of the keuring. Interestingly, the keuring was held at the farm belonging to the heiress to the Campbell's Soup fortune (yes, it was a nice place)

This is me on Oliver. My apologies for my poor equitation, for those who know how to ride, LOL. This was my first time on him since he arrived in the US (he was born in the Netherlands).

1. He is wonderful!
I have always loved the look of a Friesian! They are so beautiful. How old is he?

I have Quarter Horses and have never done that kind of equitation, strictly cowgirl stuff here.

Oh he is beautiful. Big guy. How many hands?

3. 8 years young ;)
He's ALL young'un though! He's only 16.2, but because Friesians are so high-headed he seems MUCH taller! I remember when we were "Friesian shopping" I insisted on a high-headed Friesian for driving. Now everyday when I go to put on hs halter and have to stand on tippy toes I remind myself that I just had to have a high-headed Friesian!

I love him though, he's my baby. Would love to see pics of your horses, too!

4. ONLY!
ONLY! My largest horse, my best brood mare, is 16 hands and not high headed. Wow. I have to use my hand to lift my leg high enough to get into the stirrup.

I only have one picture on my computer that is worth posting and it is one of my silly horse, my trick horse. Lousy picture but here he is smiling on command. He will also stick out his tongue if you ask him if he wants broccoli, he will kiss you, lick your cheek and nod his head in answer to questions. Don't let him near a beer, he will grab it and tip his head back and drink it down. Other than that his tricks are his own, usually dismantling something at my farm.

5. LOL awwww!!!
What a cutie! (gotta love the always dirty teeth of horses haha) My Oliver will literally LICK the whole side of yuor head if you let him - he's SO weird. He just loves to slobber all over people.

And what is it with horses and beer? I've never had a horse that didn't love it!

Nice to see more horses here.

9. WOW!
So gorgeous for 20 years old! Oliver's pasture-mate is my other gelding Charles, who we adopted from the local large animal humane league. He's now 19-years-old and Oliver keeps him young. Charles is a Morgan, but he and Sunny are built very similarly.

Horse people and Dems...my favorite :hi:
