Yankees: No Interest In Manny Ramirez
<snip>

Dodgers, Devil Rays, Orioles, and Mets are possible options
By Gordon Edes, Globe Staff, 10/30/2003

The New York Yankees have "absolutely no interest whatsoever" in picking up Manny Ramirez off waivers, an industry source told the Globe this afternoon.

The Red Sox placed Ramirez on irrevocable waivers last night, according to baseball sources. Teams have until 1 p.m. tomorrow to make a claim for Ramirez.

The Yankees, who were one of the teams thought to have enough money to pick up the rest of Ramirez' contract (5 years, $101.5 million), are now apparently out of the running.

Other teams said to have an interest in Ramirez include the Dodgers -- recently bought by Boston developer Frank McCourt -- Tampa Bay, Baltimore, and the New York Mets.

1. Ok, as a Yankee fan...I have a question to Sox fans:
WHY IS MANNY ON WAIVERS???
Yankees don't want him, and personally, I wouldn't want him. Yankees need more pitching...
But seriously, Manny is one of the best hitters in the game, and it makes no sense to me to put him on waivers...

4. Yeah are you guys going to resign Pedro + Nomar?
That would be an end of an era for the Sox if they lose both of those guys...
And for the record, I have no desire to see Pedro in pinstripes.
Maybe Nomar....his nose could be a powerful tool on the Yankes
OMG, the thought of 2 sexy shortstops on one field is enough to make me melt...:9

7. Yeah I have the utmost respect for Nomar
He's a great guy, very classy like DJ.
I hope the Sox resign Nomar, I feel the Sox deserve at least one player I cant automatically hate...;)

5. I wouldn't count on the Dodgers in this
The uncertainty while waiting on the new ownership to be approved means they won't be doing anything about free agents for several weeks. (That includes their own FAs, like Brian Jordan.)

8. Manny is not coming to the Bronx..........

Yankees are not going to take on his contract, they're are going to make moves for pitching this winter.......If Soriano is not traded he will most likely be in the outfield next season along with Bernie and Matsui and if he is traded I think the Yanks would rather go after Vladimir Guerrero instead of Ramirez.........
