Not that I'm into book burning, it just seems a good way to dispose of it.

1. Hi, jobycom! Well, there are 2 ways I can think of to acquire it
without buying it: have someone give you the book as a gift; or steal it from a library...

Of course, that's against the law, and so is burning it! Otherwise, those are very good ideas!

What do you think?

8. No Stealing
from Libraries unless you want the public to return the favor by stealing your stuff.

12. True, I wouldn't steal from a library. But maybe
I could steal it from a Freeper!!! There are a few of those in Texas, I'm sure I could find one.

22. No law against book burning.
I'm not for it, but it's not against the law. Even the Bible, or Koran, or Harry Potter, or Left Behind. Just be prepared for the backlash against whatever statement you're making.

2. You could always steal it
I mean, I'm sure ol' Zell and Abbie Hoffman are coming from the same place on so many things :sarcasm: that to do so would be totally acceptable! :-)

If you are planning a book-burning I do have a copy of Limbaugh's See I Told You So I can send your way. I ended up with it from my brother-in-law who used to be a right-winger and we haven't been able to decide of the best way to dispose of it. I don't want to keep it, donating it to a used bookstore would be like knowingly spreading a horrible disease to the general public, and it seems too weak to just trash it.

3. Book burning isn't the liberal way.
Collective and complete indifference to that book would have a more desirable impact. :hi:

Yeah, you're right. I should behave.

The liberal way isn't always as emotionally fulfilling, though, is it?

13. I feel the same way, sometimes, jobycom.
But what keeps me from burning their books and talking their trashy talk and generally over-reacting is that _we're_ not like them. Here, have a hug, since I have no authority to dispense Swedish fish:

33. Swedish fish.
They're candy. Skinner used to give out Swedish fish in the now-defunct DU "Ask the Admins" forum. Here, have some Swedish fish. (I got them from the Internets, rather than stealing them from Skinner's secret stash.) :hi:

6. I'VE GOT IT!!!!!
Subscribe to one of those book clubs (Like a Colombia House, but for books). You can always get like 12 for free as an intro, right? Well, just buy the books you want (Like 7 in a year) and you're good. You didn't spend 1 dime on Zell's book, and you purchased at a discount books you probably would have bought anyway, right?

20. I saw the ads
I was out of state over the weekend, and I've been so obsessed with this novel I'm trying to write (and probably will never get published) that I haven't done or seen anyone. I haven't even been to a NXNW meeting since I stepped down. They probably think all kinds of nasty thoughts about me!

I should start hanging out again. Elisabeth isn't the only one I miss seeing. Heck, she's not even the only Elizabeth I miss seeing!

Ignore it and make sure those around you do as well.

It's as good or better than burning a single book.

27. Please don't resort to "their" tactics. Maybe try this.
Find out how much is costs and donate that amount, remembering to write in the memo area of the check that it is a donation protesting him, to a progressive organization. That's one way to counteract him...

30. Just wait till it hits the 50-cent bin
The RW bulk buyers have to do something with them - they sure as hell ain't finding many consumers. Or you cound save 50-cents and have the satisfaction of knowing most of them will end up as pulp.

I'd let Zell Miller burn you up before I let you burn his book.

Wild exaggeration, of course, but you get my drift. I'd let Zell burn your shoes, maybe. But for sure I wouldn't let you burn his book.
