5. What about the reverse? Janice Joplin is as talentless as it got

And she's either in it or is going to be. They could just as easily have nominated an ice-weasel on speed.

Misunderstood the question. You're probably right about Summer. She'll be 90 by the time they get around to inducting her.

Couldn't believe that Lloyd Price (of Staggerlee fame) only made it a few years ago. What a travesty. Took too long for Chuck Berry to make it too. :wtf:

12. I have a friend who is extremely well versed in the "rock biz" world...
and he makes a very convincing argument that some people who unquestionably belong in the HoF will *never* be voted in. Why? Because of the labels they were on.
I wish I could repeat my friend's case verbatim, but basically he says that it's all politics and there are certain labels that are being blacklisted. Artists who recorded the bulk of their work for these labels are being barred from the HoF. He can name major labels off the top of his head that have none of their artists in the Hall.
As for Chuck Berry, hey, he should've been the FIRST person voted in, IMHO, but getting locked up for violation of the Mann Act with white girls really set him back. Utterly irrelevant, of course, but there you have it. As if rock is supposed to be good clean family entertainment...
The Hall of Fame hasn't earned my respect so far.

20. Totally True. The whole biz sucks donkeys.
The "music biz" is the biggest cesspool of vermin and bottom-feeders in the world. Hell, it makes Ken Lay and the Enron boys look like the Sisters of Charity by comparison.

I've played in bands for about 20 years now, off and on, even full-time at one point in my life. Even some of the bigger so-called "Indy" labels are polluted by this same scratch-my-ass-if-I-scratch-yours mentality. It's not even ABOUT the talent or the music, it's about how much blow you can score for the promoter and his pals before they'll book you to play a gig that actually pays.

I still play, with a group of guys I've known for over ten years now. It's mostly for fun, but occassionally we do put out tunes on CD or on the web for fans. But I don't miss the "business" part of the music business one bit.

:D

23. Phooey on you! In some polls, there is only one obvious answer!
Listening to Bad Girls right now--a classic. Rolling Stone mag called the album much more progressive than people were ready to accept.

Or something like that.
