Chicago Song - 25 or 6 To 4
Just what does "25 or 6 To 4" refer to?

My twenty-something son wants to know and this Dirty Hippie has no clue.

3. "25 or 6 to 4 means "25 or 26 minutes til 4 o'clock".
When Chicago looked at the time, it was that time and they used it"

5. I've heard they're
sexual positions. 6 to 4 => 69.

Seems like a stretch, but that's what I've heard since high school.

6. Always had heard it was a reference to when Terry (the guitarist)
asked the time and got the answer 25 or 6 to 4 and later heard it is a reference to a quantity or type of LSD.

7. bus routes.
I always imagined it was about getting up in the morning and wondering
which bus routes to take to work... :) Should I take the 25 cross
town or try taking bus 6 and transfer to bus 4?

Indecisiveness..

25 Or 6 to 4
Chicago
(R. Lamm)

Waiting for the break of day
Searching for something to say
Dancing lights againnst the sky
Giving up I close my eyes
Sitting cross-legged on the floor
25 or 6 to 4

Staring blindly into space
Getting up to splash my face
Wanting just to stay awake
Wondering how much I can take
Should have tried to do some more
25 or 6 to 4

Feeling like I ought to sleep
Spinning room is sinking deep
Searching for something to say
Waiting for the break of day
25 or 6 to 4
25 or 6 to 4
