Redheads check in!
Just wanted to start a thread for redheads. I wonder how many of us there really are.
I have red hair but I have noticed that it is darkening to a more auburn shade as I have gotten older. My daughter is a strawberry blonde.
Who else is lurking out there?

37. I did my part.
I produced strawberry blonde. My hair is deeper in color but her father was a blonde so I guess the strawberry is ok.
I wish she'd gotten my grey eyes too instead of his blue. I like the grey better (even though she has a nice shade of blue. I just like the idea of two things that are unusual-red hair and grey eyes-being together).

I like to say without them I wouldn't have any tan in the summer. As I age the age spots are no problem, you can't tell them from the freckles! Another reason I love being a redhead. A few years ago I was a member of a redhead club and we had some glamour photos taken. I'll try to find them and post sometime.

Something like seventy percent of the world's population has brunette hair. If you think about it that adds up. Every race has brunette hair. Not every race has blonde or red.

It makes sense that brunette being darkest would be dominant. But I never heard of the 70% figure. You're so right. Not every race has blondes or redheads. Gosh they're not going to breed blondes out of existence too?

I've gone lighter as the grey has crept in to take its toll. I've gotten to the point where I have to add color to cover that damned grey more and more often. It sucks. My dermatologist, from whom no roots are secret, declared me a true "redhead" though, and my eye doctor said I'm blonde (no pigments inside the retina) which is why I'm so light sensitive.

Here are a couple of shots, the first 20+ years ago, the second about 5 years ago:

Clocks are running late
Paint by numbers morning sky
Looks so phony

Dawn is breaking everywhere
Light a candle, curse the glare
Draw the curtains, I don't care
'Cause it's alright

I will get by
I will get by
I will get by
I will survive

I see you got your list out
Say your piece and get out (note 1)
Yes I got the gist of it
But it's alright

Sorry that you feel that way
The only thing there is to say
Every silver lining's got a
Touch of grey

It's a lesson to me
The Ables and the Bakers and the C's
The A B C's
We all must face
And try to keep a little grace

I know the rent is in arrears
The dog has not been fed in years
It's even worse than it appears
But it's alright

Cows are giving kerosene
The kid can't read at seventeen
The words he knows are all obscene
But it's alright

I will get by
I will get by
I will get by
I will survive

It's a lesson to me
The Deltas and the East and the Freeze
The A B C's
We all think of
And try to give a little love

The shoe is on the hand it fits
There's really nothing much to it
Whistle through your teeth and split
'Cause it's alright

Oh well a touch of grey
Kind of suits you anyway
That was all I had to say
And it's alright

I will get by
I will get by
I will get by
I will survive

We will get by
We will get by
We will get by
We will survive
