Don't put apples or grapes in my tuna salad.
Yuck!

Here's how I make tuna salad:

Two big cans of tuna in oil, well drained
Five boiled eggs, diced
Sweet relish
Mayo
a tad bit of Mustard
Sea Salt
Coarse ground pepper
tad bit of cayenne
a little bit of celery salt

Mix it up and enjoy on crackers or white bread.

How do you mix up tuna salad? I'm bored with mine, but not bored enough to add apples or grapes.

1. A local restaurant puts chopped jalapenos in theirs. I hate it.
Your recipe sounds perfect, to my tastes. :9

2. I've had it with chopped celery in it before, and I like that.
But I don't think I could do chopped jalepenos. That's not comfort food, and tuna salad is supposed to be a comfort food. :hi:

3. Here is how I like my tuna
Tuna in water (the stuff packed in oil is vomit inducing to me)
Yogurt or sour cream
Chopped pickles
Chopped celery
Maybe chopped onion
Hot sauce
Dijon mustard
Salt if I need it
Lots of pepper
Caraway seeds

4. One can of Chunk White mixed with one can of Chunk Light
Edited on Mon May-30-05 02:54 PM by mcscajun
(both well drained)

Some chopped celery, fresh minced onion, Hellman's Mayo, a bit of pickle relish, and just a dash of ketchup.

Toasted English Muffins, untoasted Whole Wheat bread, or White Toast are perfect foils for it.

Another good one is no salad at all: Progresso Tuna packed in Olive Oil (do NOT drain) and roasted red peppers on a crusty Italian roll. Yum.

7. My mom puts egg in her tuna salad too.

I like tuna and mayo with seasoning. Maybe celery, if I am not to lazy to chop it.

I don't understand all this giving yourself more work to eat tuna.

8. Here's how we eat tuna
I learned to love this when it served to me for breakfast every morning for three months during a Japanese sojourn:

3 Tbs. soy sauce
2 tbs. rice vinegar
½ tsp. Japanese mustard

Break up tuna coarsely. Add chopped scallions and minced ginger and mix lightly. Pile in bowl.

12. Tuna salad...
Tuna, preferably in the bag, not the can, albacore or chunk white
Mayonnaise (or Miracle Whip; I like both and it depends on my mood)
Chopped pickles for crunch
Black pepper

I DO like grapes and/or apples in chicken salad, though.

18. mine
I don't know the measurements-I just eyeball them.
1 can of tuna in water (though the newer packs are quite nice)
diced onion
diced pickle (kosher dill only)
diced celery
cayenne or sometimes tabasco sauce
mayo
mustard
pepperochinis (I grew up w/ them so they are a comfort food to me)
sometimes diced green peppers when they are in season fresh from the garden

Mix-just don't make too soupy. I like it on rye bread or crackers. Sometimes I make tuna melts w/ the same recipe.

(I do add apples, grapes and walnuts to my chicken salad, though)

19. Tuna in oil has an incredible amount of mercury.
I read that in Prevention magazine a few days ago. Tuna packed in water is much better...and canned salmon and mackerel are better yet. Sorry to be such a wet blanket.
