Unlike Americans we are trained how to put the knife into the right hand and the fork into the left - then using both cut up the food and consume it.

2. Untrained, but not untrainable

So as to not be mistaken for a spy or barbarian I found I needed to learn to eat without the silverware shuffle -it is possible, and admittedly preferable. The white sneakers and baseball cap have been ditched as well, but I still insist that zebra can legitimately be pronounced “zeebra” and not “zehbra.”
