Anyone here experienced anything paranormal or supernatural?
Such as seeing a ghost or UFO, or personally having experienced some sort of psychic phenomenon like an out of body experience or premonitions.

As for me, I thought I once saw a UFO almost 20 years ago, I thought it looked triangular in shape, though it did seem to rotate as it passed overhead, but kept going in the same direction. I was pretty young at the time though, about 8, and it was late at night, so more than likely it was a plane and my imagination got the best of me.

When I experience deja vu, it's only conversations that I think I've heard before in a dream, and they're always mundane conversations.

I've never seen a ghost though (and I did even live in a funeral-home-turned-fraternity-house for about 2 years) or experienced any of the wilder stuff like bending spoons or remote viewing. I was wondering what anybody else has seen.

To explain this weird post, I just saw that movie White Noise and how that Electronic Voice Phenomenon is supposedly real, so now I'm all into the other strange stuff too.

1. Personally, no, I never have......
...and I'm not trying to rain on anybody. If anyone else has, I'd be interested in hearing the details....

2. Finally I can post
I have in my life one actual ghost sighting, two separate events that could be considered ghostly activity and one possible UFO sighting. (Could have been a stealth bomber.)

4. I used to think I did...
...when I was younger, I used to have episodes of waking sleep paralysis. It's a physiological thing that most people grow out of, as I did. However, when you wake up as a young child, unable to move, and with the sensation of a great weight upon you, it scares the living shit out of you! Of course, my parents didn't believe a word of it, and I couldn't prove otherwise. As it turns out, they were right in claiming that there were no aliens or ghosts, and I was right in claiming that I was lying in bed paralyzed!

5. If it happens a lot, is it paranormal? :)
Lots of times, usually having to do with someone in my family being in crisis.

Clearest example: I threw myself a party when I got my B.A., and had a house full of family and friends and in the middle of everything, had the clear thought that I needed to call an uncle in another country that I hadn't talked to for years.

I did, and he was in an ambulance, having had a heart attack. (He's fine!)

Lots of similars.

7. Hi Beth! I've had a lot of extremely unlikely telephone coincidences too
Sometimes it's that I think of someone who is not in my daily routine and then the phone rings, usually within half a day or less. Other times it's that I need to call someone, for no reason I can imagine, and as in your example, it turns out to be a good thing I did.

I've only had two ghostlike experiences that I can recall. Here's the first, and if there's another of these threads some day I'll post the second, which is much more recent and rather different.

The first, very vivid ghostlike experience I had was when I was 8-10 years old and spending the summer in southern Illinois with my grandparents in their old house. I slept in a room between the kitchen and the living room, and there were very old family portraits of people who had died before I was born all around the room.

One night something - I don't know what - woke me in the middle of the night and I decided to go into the kitchen for a glass of water. The night was moonless and the room was pitch black, but I knew the short distance I had to go and wasn't worried about bumping into anything. ( I still remember the layout, after all these years.) I got out of bed and walked to the middle of the room, my hand out ahead of me to be sure I didn't bump into anything. But I know I only went a few steps, not far enough to reach any of the furniture or walls. My hand touched what felt exactly like the wool fabric of a man's suit jacket, and it was vertical and had exactly the degree of resiliency and overall feel that would have. I was terrified because THERE WAS NOTHING LIKE THAT IN MY ROOM OR THE TWO ADJACENT ROOMS. I was in the empty middle of the room, but I was touching something just like a man's suit jacket. I still remember the adrenaline rush and the way my stomach felt like it was falling to my feet. There was absolute silence, no sound at all. No footsteps or breathing except mine.

The next day, I looked all around my sleeping room and the two adjacent rooms, but there was NOTHING that would have felt like that. Nor did anyone get up during the night - there was only the immediate family and all of them said they had stayed in their rooms.

To this day I don't know what I touched, but those old pictures of greats and great-greats took on an eerie context for me. Right over the bed where I slept was an old photo showing a man I had never met, my great-great grandfather holding my grandfather as a baby. He was wearing a wool-looking suit.

I've never stopped wondering what happened that night.

6. I'll tell you what happened to me
I was about 17 years old, and down in my room in the basement. I had this flash of an image out of the blue. It was a very clear picture of the three hottest girls in my High School at my front door.

It was really weird because these girls were really stuck up and never had given me the time of day. Before I could contemplate, I heard the doorbell. I heard the front door opened and after a few seconds my Mom yells, 'Greg, someone's here for you'. I had a really creepy feeling as I went upstairs, but I didn't connect that feeling with the vivid image I'd just experienced.

As I looked out the glass door, it was like a camera went CLICK, and that picture matched up exactly with the image I'd just seen. I freaked out, but remained as cool as I could. They motioned me to step outside. The leader of the group (the most wanted girl in my High School - who I had a huge crush on) explained that they had heard that I might know where they could get a bag of marijuana!

I had one other similar experience which happened around the same time. It pretty much convinced me that there are some things that we can't see or understand - things outside of our normal senses.

9. All the time
to some degree. My friends have witnessed me coming up with stuff and then having that stuff actually happen or come into conversation somehow. The latest example is for the past month, I've been talking about Eddie Albert for some reason, and then he passes away. I came up with a name one day with my friend Barb--turns out it's a real kid, and she (as a teacher) has him as one of her students. Was watching Jeopardy one night, and they broke before final jeopardy, only giving the category, and I answered the question even before the question came up.

Back in 1980, though, I had the most compelling example. We were in the middle of the Iranian hostage crisis at the time, and nothing was really happening on that subject, except daily anxiety over the people that were being held. One night, I had a dream where I was at the embassy when it was taken over, and somehow escaped from the building. In the dream, I found myself entering another building, and in the dream, one of the bad guys said, "she's going into the Canadian embassy--we'll never catch her now."

Well, approximately two weeks later, the story broke: some of the embassy employees HAD escaped, and yes, they were able to get to the Canadian embassy! So that dream was either clairvoyance or precognition.

I also have predicted other stuff: working with tarot cards, I have foreseen my brother and sister-in-law getting a house, people entering others' lives, and unearthing tidbits from the past.

I don't consider it anything really special, though--most of the time it happens without any inkling that it's happening, so I can't control it or anything, and when I try to utilize it, it doesn't happen.

Ghosts I've seen. I stayed at my friend Barb's house during Christmas last year, and even though I stayed there many, many times, and indeed have actually lived in the house for a time, I never felt any presence. Until this past Christmas, where I swear I felt Barb's dad's spirit. About two weeks later, Barb's mom gets pneumonia, and begins a 6 month decline in health, passing away in mid-May. Perhaps his spirit was there to take her away? I've felt other ghosts through the years as well, from that of a patient I worked with who had just died to one of my cats who had been killed.

If someone wants to doubt, that's okay. Unless you have been around someone who has had that sort of phenomenon in real life, it's difficult to comprehend how real it is when it happens.

10. I've dreamed them.
Dreamed a bank robbery the night before it happened (I was the teller). Dreamed about a couple that I knew vaguely having a baby and sent them a note (another city) about it, saying I didn't recognize their house in my dream. They wrote back a month or two later, saying they had moved and my letter was delayed and they got it the day they found out she was pregnant (since she was supposed to be infertile they put the letter in the baby book). I dreamed a good friend died and came to me to tell me it would be alright and I got a call the next morning he had died about the time of my dream. Then a few years ago my sister, my aunt (other side of the family) and I all dreamed my dad's unexpected death the night before it happened. Have absolutely no explanation how this happens or why.

21. That's sort of what I think. I don't know why or how.
Once, when I was going to a friend's office, as she opened the door, I "saw" a little blonde boy, maybe about 5, smiling and running out of the office.

Since I generally don't hallucinate without chemical help, lol, it registered but, I didn't know what to do with it. When I told her about it, she told me she'd found out that morning that she was pregnant. And she had a little boy who is a tow head.

Interesting, my friend kept trying to come up with explanations. First, she said we'd "twinned", whatever that means. She's a twin, I'm not. Then she said it was a "dream image" -- something else I know nothing about.

13. The most definite one was the groom jumping off the cake
At my mother and evil step father's wedding. They had two separate figurines for the bride and the groom. In a room full of people at the reception, the groom projectily flew off the cake. It did not fall off the cake. There were no slide marks on the frosting. It was not touched. The recption was held in an old mansion.
I may have had several psychic/ESP phenomenona/minor miracles involving people coming to me at the vital time. Given the busyness of my thoughts though, I cannot prove that these things were not purely coincidental. I am greatful for the "miracles" anyway.
My sister and I used to weird people out though by talking in unison. I remember that it wasn't difficult at all and at the time we didn't realize why people would think that it was strange.

14. It's so ordinary it's no longer "para"
Grew up in a haunted house, plenty of little incidents of precognitive dreams and what-not, stuff like that. After a while you get used to it.

16. Don't know about "supernatural"--but creepy as all get out, sure.
(Well, kind of supernatural, actually, but I *try* to be skeptical, which is hard because I'm one of those people this sort of thing happens to a lot.)

When I was sixteen, I had a dream where my grandmother had fallen down in her dining room, and I was kind of *there* but *not there*, the way a person sometimes is in dreams, as if you're just watching something on t.v. I had a sense that it wasn't just a dream, and it turned out she had had a heart attack that morning (she got a quadruple bypass and is still with us.) Also when I was in my teens, I was in a "haunted house" that one of my friends lived in. She was very matter-of-fact about it. I was warned I might feel something when I went in the basement--I certainly did. The second I got to the bottom of the stairs, it was like hitting a cold spot, and I explained to my friends that I really wanted to go back upstairs--right NOW! They asked me "How many were there? (No, really. They'd all had the same perception.) And I said, "Four." And we could all more or less describe the "entities" that were there.

I've had one or two past-live regression experiences (booze--not hynosis-related.) And this is a kind of creepy thing that happened, make of it what you will.

I was at a funeral for a family member of my ex's. The relative had died of cancer, and his nephew, who had leukemia, was an altar boy carrying a candle. I didn't know what to make of them having the boy in the funeral procedings as it was, but it freaked me out when his candle went out. Just went out. And the boy did pass that year.
