Mouse problem - any advice?
My old mouse died, so I went out and bought a Micro Innovations Optical Scroll Mouse for $10. The thing is flukey as hell -- hops around on the screen, disappears off the left edge and reappears at the right edge, gets stuck at the left edge and won't come loose (until it does), disappears altogether and then comes back.

My younger son said, "Get updated drivers from the manufacturer's website." But the website doesn't even list this model, and most of the models it does list have no updates.

My older son said, "Software incompatibilities, uninstall your old drivers." So I found an installation from 1999 for a Kensiko Dual Scrolling mouse and uninstalled that. No difference. I asked, "Should I just go back to a ball mouse?" He said, "No, you could have the same problem. It's not the sensor, it's the drivers."

Micro Innovations is the only cheap brand at Staples. Everything else costs $30-$50 and has a million bells and whistles.

I'm fresh out of ideas, and I'm hoping someone else has hints for what I might try.

2. I did, too
I recently had mouse problems of the other kind, and even posted here in the lounge for advice. We were eventually able to get rid of the problem. :)

6. Model is PD430P
The manufacturer's drivers page is http://www.mic-innovations.com/mi/drivers.cfm and the 430P isn't even listed there.

I did run the setup routine on the disk that came with the mouse. The files on that disk mostly have 2003 dates.

7. With no updates available, no support, and a problem mouse...
...you don't have too many options.

I say chuck the bloody thing and get a Logitech Marble Mouse USB. $20 and you won't be swearing at it.

8. I've had Logitechs in the past and liked them
This one's making my arm cramp up, besides. Back it goes tomorrow.

9. On second thought . . .
My #2 son googled and says that dark-colored mousepads (which mine is) can screw up optical mice. So it gets one more chance to see if we can live with each other before I ditch it.

4. Don't knock the bells and whistles
I have a Logitech MX700 mouse and could never go back to one of those regular mice.

But as for a more practical solution, I don't know.
