Finally up for a promotion
I've just been informed I am the top candidate for a vice-principal position at my school. It will require me to take 12 hours this summer at the University of Texas in Arlington, but it will be worth it. It will be nice because about 50% of my job is educational administration without the pay rate. Time to redo my website if I get the job.

I go up for full prof next year. I'll write you a recommendation letter if you'll write me one-- "I'd want Maestro beside me at the barricades without reservation...."

5. After I finish this prinicpalship certification

the Ph.D. is next. I have already contacted the university and the professor in charge of the program, a long-time family friend, says he will welcome me with open arms. Good luck on your full prof position. I had a teaching fellowship at the University of North Texas while working on my masters. Are you more research oriented or the publish or die kind of prof? And thanks on the letter of recommendation. You don't know how true that is for my school. I teach in a very low-income, high English langauge school.

Currently, this is my website. It will be updated if I receive the new position, or perhaps even if I don't. ;)

8.  california state university, biological sciences dept...
...so about equal weight on teaching and research, which is to say it's essentially two full time jobs. I teach two courses most semesters, with labs-- three next fall-- and usually have five or six grad students at any given time. It's kind of mad, actually. Good luck with the promotion!

15. Yeah it is tough
especially with the current batch of politicans that continue to insinuate and sometimes directly state that we are failing students!

14. Well, with so much rumor and speculation
Edited on Sun May-29-05 08:37 PM by Maestro
I really rather not say publicly until it is done. You can't imagine how cut-throat it is. It would just be my luck that someone from my districts see this and then starts some stupid rumor that I am announcing myself as the new vp before it is done. I hope you understand.

Edit: Heck I already posted my website link so I'll just tell you. It's Irving ISD. So for any of you from Irving, let it be known that I DO NOT HAVE THE POSITION AND I AM NOT SAYING THAT I DO IN ANY WAY JUST ONE OF THE TOP CANDIDATES!

17. It's a large district
I wouldn't worry too much.

I graduated from Highland Park some years ago. Glad to be out of that place, but damn would I love to put my kids through that school system.
