I'm concerned with what Bush* is doing to my mother
I brought this up yesterday at our local DU gathering.

Mom is 79 and never been one to swear outside of an occasional "damn" or, when really provoked (like when she shattered a piece of her crystal) a "shit". But now, she can't hear Bush*'s name without immediately responding "asshole". She calls Barbara Bush "that old bitch" (which, we all know is true, but Mom's word of choice would once have been "bag", not bitch). She's called Poppy a bastard. She confessed to me tonight that when she watched his press conference today she screamed at the t.v. "You're a lying son of a bitch (also true) and I hope you burn in hell."

This is not my mother... George Bush is corrupting her...How do I explain this to her grandchildren?

2. She hasn't been corrupted
In fact, she sounds like she has very high standards. She is just hoppin' mad to see someone who is corrupt in the White House.

5. Unfortunately, Smirk seems
to be corrupting many senior citizens. Each time my eighty something mom sees Him, she snaps, "He's a jacka$$, turn the channel." This from a very religious woman

6. Interestingly, my grandmother, who passsed away last year,
did the same thing! She hated Bush. My great Aunt Louise, who's 94, and still kickin', also screams at the TV when Bush comes on, but seldom uses harsh language. My mother, who turned 74 today, spares nothing when it comes to language, whenever she sees Bush on TV. My whole family detests this man, and what he's done to the country!

7. She has reached "the end of her rope." And, give her credit, she keeps up

with the times! Is she on the "internet?" That could explain her choice of words which differs from her past dealings with her family where they wouldn't have thought she would use those kinds of words about anyone.

Bush has turned so many who care about America into "cussing sailors." My language has gone into the toilet because of that lying *@&-**&$#@'s who "squats" in the White House!

Your mother is a treasure....but it must be shocking! She didn't grow up using those words, or raising you, using them. She, indeed, has been pushed over the edge by the Chimp.

I hope she has her sanity left. Many of us are just barelyc linging to that...inspite of our gutter language to blaspheme him!

13. No, the Old One doesn't have internet access
she doesn't even have cable. She prefers to read. She's actually intimidated by all things electronic and won't even get an ATM card. You don't know how long I spent nagging her to get automatic deposit on her Social Security check. I gave her a microwave a few years ago and found one with a dial because I knew she'd never use it if it had buttons. She petrified one potato in it, decided it was useless, and it sat in her closet until my niece moved into her own place and she gave it to her.

She does make jokes about her dislike of "new fangled" devices.

8. I think it's a wonderful and good sign - she's not corrupted,
she's finally hit an anger level in which the socially engineered "proper way to act" paradignm has been obliterated, and for the first time in her life, she is comfortable throwing the social engineering to the wind and being utterly honest with herself and her family.

Would that we could all, always, be that honest about stuff with each other, and gave each other permission to be that honest.

A big :toast: for your grandma!!!!!

10. tell your grandchildren to take notes
your mom is simply responding appropriately. I am sure many here at DU have experienced a change in their level of profanity and insanity since BushCo took over our country...

11. This made me laugh
My elderly mother, a lifelong, pro labor Democrat, a child of the depression, has really liked Bush up until a few months ago-she thought he was "cute". Now she is "sick of that asshole".
I would've loved to hear your mom go off on Barbara.

12. Actually, I've told her I wish she'd organize women her age
to go after Barbara. I figure Bab's contempories (age wise that is) are the only ones who can get by with it.

But, Mom, who did read Franken's book, responded "I'm through with her."

15. give your mom a great, big hug from me
and tell her: she's not the only one. my sweet mom, who never utters a bad word about anyone, can't stand the lot of 'em either.

16. I'm Not The One To Ask
Dimbo has already killed my Mom because she was far more concerned with taking care of her taxes than buying life-saving medication at the "American" rate.

I'm 50 now and give me another 20 years I just "might" get over it...but until I do, I'll always carry two memories with me: discovering my Mom's body and having my Freeper brother tear the house apart searching for money five minutes after EMS and the Coroner left....
