yeah, I've had a few beers tonight...........
And I'm relegated to wearing headphones so I don't offend the sensibilities of my kids....no, Im not listening to N'Syn or Britteney....I'm listening to real rock and roll.

I'm talking 1971 here.....the Dead, "Not Fade Away, GDTRFB". It's so damn frustrating trying to educate kids today about the roots of real music...not the focus group driven crap that's paseed off as music today.....oh well, time to put on some Satchmo...

1. We had better luck with my 14-year-old son,
He listens to Pink Floyd, Meatloaf, Queen, and other old time rock-n-roll that my husband turned him on to. He wears our old concert t-shirts with great pride! Instead of being made fun of, his friends have learned to appreciate these old classics also.

2. Actually, I can't get too down on my daughter.....
she's playing fiddle in a bluegrass band. My son, on the otherhand, is into M&M (sp)....what's up with that? Like, no possible relevancy in the middle of nowhere....

3. I was glad to read that, sort of jealous....
my daughter plays clarinet, piano (Meatloaf, Stairway to Heaven, etc.) and when she asked to take violin lessons I had visions of her playing fiddle music. Well, she likes opera music, stuff like that. She did like Eminem (M&M -- took me awhile to figure that out!) for about a month, but she was in love with the Backstreet Boys for about a year. I'll take the opera stuff over the Backstreet Boys. I might even take M&M over them too!

4. I remembered how much I hated my Dad's music growing up....
now, I really like it. So, who knows? Seems that the music today is all produced...no talent....am I wrong?
