I hate my neighbor.

He's a total dick. He's got some really sweet kids, and he YELLS AT THEM ALL THE TIME for no apparent reason. Even when he's playing with them, the guy screams. Called his 6 year old (estimate) son a "wussy" today. I don't know why. His wife is nearly as bad.

Man, I hope those kids don't grow up to be like their parents. Sadly, that is probably what will happen.

1. I know some people who treat their child like that

A guy I grew up with and his wife are constantly yelling at their kid for doing nothing but being himself. Poor little guy is probably going to have some real issues when he gets a little older. Thing is the guy that I grew up with was a nice guy until he had a kid and as far as I know his parents never treated him that way and I stayed at his house many times over night when I was a kid. I don't hang out with the guy any more for fear that I'll do something I'll regret one time when he starts in on his kid.

I would move.
Its very, very important to me to live around people with, if not the same political leanings, at least the same values, i.e. quiet, peaceful, clean, etc. What used to be called (with derision) "middle class values."

6. A friend of mine had neighbors like that.

The man called his young children every name in the book. Both of them screamed at each other nonstop when they weren't screaming at their kids. Summer, when the windows were open, was one giant screamfest.
Every time I heard it I wanted to confront the bastards but my friend had to live near them and made me promise to butt out. If I had any proof of physical abuse I would have reported them to social services, but verbal abuse doesn't offer much evidence for child protective types.

A few years later the man offed himself and his wife while the kids were sleeping upstairs. Guess who found the bodies?

People like that are not fit to be parents. If the kids survive that environment without becoming thugs themselves it'll be a miracle.
