I like NIN even more after seeing this
"The band was slated to perform "The Hand That Feeds," the first single from its latest album.

A Los Angeles Times review called the song "a warning against blind acceptance of authority, including that of a president leading his nation to war."

"We were set to perform 'The Hand That Feeds' with an unmolested, straightforward image of George W. Bush as the backdrop. Apparently, the image of our president is as offensive to MTV as it is to me," Nine Inch Nails' leader Trent Reznor said in a statement posted on the band's Web site.

MTV said in a statement"

4. we were uncomfortable with their performance being built around a partisan
statement".

Meaning either the suits are republicans, and they'd have been fine if it was in front of a billboard of a democrat.

OR

that MTV really meant "In the current toxic climate in which free speech no longer exists, we knew the FCC would pull our license, even thought that would be technically unconstitutional under the old Constitution, and so we didn't dare show this. If it were a Democrat president, we'd happily have done it, because democrats don't go around making blacklists and illegally using arms of the government to censor and make life hell for people who criticize them, unlike the republicans, who do."
