My antivirus, antispyware, and anti-adware programs all come up clean!

So why does my LAN indicator still flash incessantly?! (the WAN/internet indicator is usually dark, so nothing seems to be going out of my machine...)

If there is a virus on my windows box, it's a very weird one. Why LAN only, and not going out thru the 'net?

3. I disabled that sad service a long time ago.
Good try...

I did notice that a svchost.exe session was running (one of six sessions, and it was using 15mb.) I was able to use taskmgr to terminate it and the NIC usage went to 0; so what's causing that to start up (I've been thorough with my startup manager prog) is still a mystery.
