Poll question: Laptop, Desktop, or WebTV? How do you DU?
Which is the technology through which you post on DU? Is it a Dell, Gateway, Sony, Apple, or other? Just curious

7. Lap and Desk (XP & Linux systems)
Mostly the desktop but a wireless laptop is a wonder. Its great to be able to drag it anywhere in the house (or out) and be able to DU where ever when ever I want. Multiple systems also enable me and my fiancee to DU together.

8. HP Notebook
Refurb (14"XVGA/1.2 GHz Celron/XP Home/CD-RW/S-Video out/3 USB ports) for only $800, plus extended warranty. So far, I'm very happy. I would have loved to have gotten an Apple PowerBook, but I didn't have $3,000 to spare. Sigh.

9. It's a jalopy that my husband has been adding to and subtracting
from for about 10 years now. She works just fine as long as you remember to pull the choke and bang on the hood every once in awhile...wait, that's my car...

Really, it is a puter my husband has messed together from the first 66 he ever bought.

On the upside, he just bought me a 17" flat screen for my work (across the room) computer, and I haven't ever been so excited over anything technical in my life. Computer Geekdom, here I come!!!!

He's finally won me over to the dark side...

Novatech has a cool app on their webpage that lets you assemble your own machine - I did that, leaving out the mouse, keyboard, monitor and operating system that I already had from my previous machine. Saved about £100.

So I'm still running Windows 98SE - so what?

14. Macintosh G4 ...
... hooked up by wireless to a wired cable modem.

And frankly, wireless cable ain't all it's cracked up to be. I can only get good results between 8 - 10 a.m. Then it slows down to dial-up speed and often cuts out entirely.
