Poll question: Vacation starts now! Teachers and students: What's yours look like?
Edited on Fri May-27-05 04:32 PM by Rowdyboy
My SO finished up his contract year this afternoon so SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER!

He's already had two beers and is busy napping while I'm dreaming up things to keep us both busy for the summer. We're gonna build a fence, recycle a few hundred pounds of crushed beer cans, and spending a week at a professional conference in Kansas City. I can taste the bar-b-que now!

How's your summer shaping up?

4. Neither. We ended up settling on a Montreal to Boston cruise
on Holland America Line. By coincidence, we were on this very ship on a family cruise we did in the western Caribbean a few years ago.

6. Montreal to Boston sounds pretty good to me....
I've never done a cruise but, in the back of my mind, I intend to some day.

9. Cruises can be very enjoyable.
Relaxing. You're in a very nice hotel that takes you to the next interesting destination. You eat as much as you want; the only thing you pay for on the ship are mixed drinks (and carbonated beverages). (You are supposed to tip at the end of the trip, however.) Wednesday night at midnight is the chocolate bar. Worth getting a migraine over.

7. What a total kick-in-the-ass! They treat teachers like 2nd class citizens
here in Mississippi too. My guy doesn't even have a contract for next August yet (no teacher in the state does). Our Rethug governor tried to cheat them out of a long delayed 8% raise, but he eventually gave in and the legislature passed the budget in special session today.

8. Yep. Us: 4% raise, doubled copay on insurance, and loss of seniority.
New teachers (1-4 years) can be fired without cause. They're aiming for tenure next.
