I need a happy movie!
Something I could get at blockbuster that *DOESN'T* suck. Rating doesn't matter, but nothing XXX.

5. Seconded.
Not a comedy, so to speak, but full of funny one-liners and parody, especially if you're a fan of zombie flicks.

Definitely worth checking out.

15. The Ladykillers
It's cohen brothers and it's as classic as hudsucker proxy or raising arizona. I missed it when it came out and it snuck by me until coming out on DVD recently.

Ditto on Sean of the dead and garden state. If you like wes anderson movies (rushmore, royal tennenbaums) then pick up "The life aquatic with steve Zissou." It's in the same vein.

18. I strongly recommend "Love Actually" with a huge ensemble cast...
None of whom can I remember right now, naturally! Liam Neeson...It was made a couple of years ago. It's set in England at Christmastime, and is basically a love story, with some comic elements, some sad ones, and some slice of life elements. It follows several couples through their lives at this time of year. My husband wasn't interested, so I saw it by myself, and loved it. I then bought the DVD and have seen it again. I think certain types of men would like it, and I don't mean gays...You need to want to be in touch with your softer side. It is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. It makes me cry every time I see it...and not from sorrow. It is sentimental...but it is also mainly happy...

Go ahead and see it, and flame me if you don't like it!

If you can tolerate dumb party movies, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle is a well done contribution to the genre.

48. Me too. VERY pleasantly surprised. VERY.
I don't think I can express to someone who hasn't seen it, how much it's *worth* seeing. The trailers were so awful and the marketing was way off.

It's not an Oscar film obviously, but it deals with love in such a wonderful way...it's a really sweet film.

The last scene made me tear up, which rarely happens.

If you haven't checked out Eddie Izzard's "Dressed to kill" that's worth your time... and I suppose it's possible that they have it at blockbuster.

Say, did you ever watch "plesantville"? That's pretty upbeat, too.

45. Napoleon Dynamite or any Will Ferrell film. What do you usually like?
It's hard to say exactly without knowing your sense of humor/idea of a happy movie. I mean, maybe seeing baby seals clubbed is your idea of happy. I'm just sayin'.

Napoleon Dynamite can move slowly unless you realize that it's basically a few days in the life of these characters. Then it's FRIGGIN HILARIOUS!

Elf is a real nice, funny, feel good movie--but it's obviously Christmas-riffic. Anchorman was funny too...but it dragged in spots. If you thought Dodgeball was funny, you won't like it (seems to be the case in my experience).

Umm...depends on what you like.
