Havocmom...how are you faring the fires?

How are you doing? Are the wildfires under control yet? Did they get close you to your residence?

I saw you had posted in the dog thread, so I knew you were in the lounge, and was wondering how you are doing--thought about you today :-).

1. Not looking good, but the town is still OK!

At least 19 ranches evacuated. Fire went from 1300 acres Friday evening to 13,000 this afternoon. Command center moved from the Missouri Breaks to the fair grounds just a mile west of town (Town is 6blocks by 8 blocks).

The four fires were estimated at 13,000 acres Sunday morning, but spokesman Pat McKelvey said the Big Coulee, Germaine and Indian Springs fires had all grown significantly during the day. The Ghost Coulee Fire remained at about 1,500 acres, McKelvey said. ///

As I mentioned last night, sheriff's inlaws are up there. Probably in town in Kelly's house today; they are not spring chickens.

I did manage to get a nap in today. Looks like another long night for da momma and all the folks around here. Some hay fields caught on fire and guyswere dragging huge bails away from danger and plowing fire breaks up around fields and houses.

The Missouri Breaks are really tough country, lots of ridges and deep ravines. Fire jumps from ridge to ridge then streaks through the ravines, known locally as 'coulees'. Imagain a land where the fire spreads out like branches on huge trees laid flat on the map. Then it hits the prairie.

But we are still here. Just not breating very deep.
