Just found this picture of the ugliest car I ever had
Edited on Thu May-26-05 07:46 PM by skygazer

I paid $400 for this car. It was a 1985 VW Golf. In December of 1998, I drove it from Vermont to the Bay Area of California. It could barely make 80 mph and sounded like the whole thing was going to shake loose when I went that fast but it made it, over the Rockies, over the Sierras, and I drove it for two years after that.

It finally broke down and I gave it to a friend who patched it together. For all I know, it's still running somewhere. I certainly got my $400 out of it! :)

edited to add - I still have the sticker that's sort of visible in the driver's side window. It's Alice in Wonderland peering over the edge of a giant mushroom upon which is a hookah smoking caterpillar. When the car died, I carefully peeled it off and put it on my next car. It's on the third car now, a new one and I'll keep peeling and keeping it until I can no longer do it.

3. And then some
When the brakes went on it, I took it to the nearest Midas shop. The techs there had never seen what a Vermont winter (or rather many vermont winters) does to the undercarriage of a car. The brakes were basically held together by rust and corrosion - they quoted me over $3000 to fix them!

I drove the car home (on the theory that it was all uphill so I didn't need brakes anyway) and paid one of the neighborhood drunks to fix it. After about $300 in beer and parts, she was ready to roll again.

The indestructible car.

Escalade. It reminds me of my old Toyota Turcel. I purchased it new and had about 75,ooo miles on the od when some drunk crashed into it. I was just breaking it in. That bastard. I had so much fun in that car. Lets just say there where little round burn holes in more than a couple of spots and it is possible for a 6'2 man and a females of various heights to fit in the front or back seats at the same time.

I had a 64 Ford Falcon, three on the tree, it got STOLEN when my dad drove it to work while I was in the USAF in Alaska. And I also had a 1976 ORANGE Pinto. Three engines!!! You could use a Campbells Soup can for a carb!!!
