"Holy Grail" For Botanists Found In Park

<snip>

SAN FRANCISCO -- A California graduate student has found a wildflower that hadn't been seen in more than six decades and was believed to be extinct.

The Mount Diablo buckwheat was rediscovered in a remote section of a county park about 30 miles east of San Francisco.

A curator at the University of California-Berkeley says it's considered the "holy grail for botanists" in the region.

The pink flower resembles baby's breath used in floral arrangements.

7. The idea of a 'Holy Grail' for botanists
makes me giggle a little bit.

Still, it's pretty cool that they found something that was thought to be extinct.
