Bushism of the day: Catapulting the propaganda

http://slate.msn.com/id/2119542/

"See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."—Greece, N.Y., May 24, 2005

2. Well spoken
The first time I agree with Bush. He is catapulting the propaganda by repeating it over and over and over again so it sounds like the truth.

5. Did he REALLY say that?
Why not just come out and say, "I learned from the best -- Dr. Goebbels" ... ? Though I disagree that Bush is stupid, I have no trouble believing that Bush is ignorant.

If I was a Republican, I think I'd be hiding behind my desk, cringing in shame. But then again, I would have gotten a start on it five years ago.

8. Oh, I don't doubt he did
That was a rhetorical question. I am under no illusions about the epic ignorance of our Beloved War President. (But thanks for the link all the same!)

Nearly everyone who has any pretensions toward being an intellectual ... or even a reader of books (as Laura Bush is reputed to be) ... will know about Goebbels' "Big Lie" technique by age 25 at least. You would think that with over 500 people working in the White House, most of whom are even allowed to buy cigarettes legally in DC, one or two of them might have heard of it.

Or, perhaps, Bush is such a verbally loose cannon, that he never discusses his rhetorical skills with the people he hired to make his reign effective.

Either way, the mind, be it naive or sophisticated, boggles. This guy is the President of the United States of America -- and he paraphrases Nazi propaganda ministers positively. And without a trace of reflection.

I don't think we're talking about "Purest Ray Serene" with Bush -- the phrase "Clear Light of Being" might be a better way of putting it. The Tibetans' term for what happens the moment that you die. You see everything as it is, unencumbered by learning or morality.

And then, the monsters from the Second Bardo come.
