Had Job Interview for Public Policy position yesterday
I think I did fine in the interview I am just bummed because I learned that it is 1 in a series of 3 interviews. It would be exciting if I got at least to the next round of interviews but I'm not even getting my hopes up for getting to the final interview.
Oh yeah and they are interviewing 10 at the 1st and then 4 at the 2nd and then 2 at the last.

Has anyone had to go through a series of interviews like this? Did you make it? Did you feel like you were always going to make it or not?

3. That sucks
If they were so flippant with how they decided the position maybe it was best that you didn't get it.

9. It took some time
to come to that conclusion....their rationale was "both of you were so great, we just couldn't decide..."

btw: Best wishes to you and, if you really want the job, good luck! :hi:

4. Thanks
I used the question about what will be one of the greatest barriers that I will face in this position... she commented that it was a good question and then further answered the question. Because this first interview was just with an HR person she couldn't answer my other question so maybe I will get to the next interview and be able to ask that question.

7. I have a good friend
Edited on Wed May-25-05 09:11 AM by northzax
who was just hired by a large public policy organisation, one known for treasonous activities such as opposing Social Security Elimination, and he went through NINE (9) interviews, in person and on the phone, with people in four states, before finally getting it. It took four months.

my current job I had three interviews for, over six months, but they were with the same people.

Look at it on the bright side, you will have the chance to see how the organisation works, how the people at different levels are, and how they treat people, it gives you a good idea of whether you might fit in there.
on edit 2: wear a different suit to the different interviews!

8. Thanks
for the heads up and the encouraging words. This first one was just with the HR person and the next one will be with the VP of the department I'll be working in and my boss and the VP of Human Resources and then the third interview will be with the VP, the Senior VP and a few of the members on the Public Policy board. I guess I should just think positive no matter what the outcome is.
