1. its not that bad!
if you have a long stick with a swiffer or toilet brush on the end to catch all the lint, its pretty easy.

3. A strong vacuum cleaner works wonders.
With the 'brush' head removed, you can feed the hose INTO the dryer-vent hose with the vacuum running, and then work it in and out to dislodge buildup...it's AMAZING how much stuff can be in there!

And once you clean that vent, it's AMAZING how quick things dry! I used to work at a laundry; DRYING is not about heat as much as AIRFLOW!

I have a mini "Shop-Vac" for heavy-duty tasks like this. It's tiny, but amazingly powerful! But any good vacuum with a hose will work well.
