perhaps a silly question...What is dirt?
Soil, Ground, Earth, the brown stuff we plant things in. What exactly is it? What is it composed of, I suppose it the more appropriate question.

18. I was just going to say..
ground up rocks and minerals and worm poop. That's pretty much what decomposing stuff is- poop from worms and bacterial waste. Makes for good tomatoes though. :9

4. soil science!
soil is the stuff that plants grow in...dirt is what is on your clothes.

soil consists of mineral matter- sand silt and clay (these are grain sizes) the proportions depend on the rock from which it comes from. Organic matter-decomposing plants and animals and waste from the animals.

You can dig down into soil and see the various layers
the top is the O or organic layer then the A, B and C layers...

Oh I could go on for hours! I have slides too!!
