The earth is flat, there's a dragon under your bed, gravity doesn't exist......... what fucking assholes. They are condemning their children to a life of ignorance at the very best. Worst case, to death. Small minded idiots! :grr:

11. One of the worst parts of this kind of teaching / thinking is that
it leads to early marriage... If you can't have sex without a license and you can't get a license without getting married, you're going to get married as young as you possibly can- maybe when you are 18-22. Even if they do have sex before marriage, its got to be done on the sly so they can keep up the pretense that they are not.

And nowadays getting married that young doesn't seem to work out well very often. They have no life experience or relationship experience so how much knowledge goes into the choice of a partner? Suddenly they are twenty years old and married to someone who they aren't even compatible with, but they've done it according to all the rules. A few years later they're 25 and divorced with 2 kids, just about the time they should actually be thinking about settling down...

17. I'm not watching it right now
So I have no idea what you are really talking about so this post might be ridiculous. I'm not really sure how the social aspects of sex ed should be taught, but I don't think that it is wrong to say that many young people make bad decisions about having sex. Some of these poor choices could cause them emotional distress. That statement that condomns won't protect your mind is not completely false.
Regardless, sexual encounters should involve protection to minimize the possible long term consequences like pregnancy and STDs.
Children shouldn't be told that having sex before marriage will ruin them for life either. Like I said, some bad early sexual decisions can cause emotional distress, but it usually isn't permanent. Telling them that it is permanent just makes things worse. It also makes it worse for children who were sexually abused, who already have emotional problems, either forcibly or by being taken advantage of by older people who they trusted.

19. I changed my mind. Condoms can protect your mind, in a way
it would give me great peace of mind to know at 17 I wasn't pregnant. I would feel much better not having a serious STD than if I did.

26. Thanks. Wow!
I knew about the purity rings and pledge that goes with them, but I had no idea that this program got government funds. And the telling kids that condoms don't work! And teachers not even being allowed to tell them that they do! Wow! WTF does this have to do with public health? It will cause more STDs. Yeah, anal sex without condoms--that's a real good idea. The "technical virgin" idea is nothing knew; heck, I did that in my younger days. But back then, I don't think anybody knew about anal sex, and even if they did, the reaction would have been, "eeeuuuw!"
Man, even amongst adults, anal has been the last taboo; it blows my mind that kids are nonchalantly doing that (if indeed many are).

You know, I'm outraged that my tax dollars are being used to tell kids lies, lies that can potentially ruin their lives.

:wtf:

28. I saw that story. Blew my mind.
Lemme see. The abstinence pledge gets broken by some 88% of kids who take it...but it's still a success. Condoms, on the other hand, are effective least 86% of the times they're used, and considerably higher depending on how you quantify it...but they're a failure.

Jebus.
