Whoa!!! My IPod just froze up for no reason. Anyone got a clue?
I was running like usual, listening to Sum 41, then all of a sudden...nothing. I messed with all the buttons, slid the play/hold switch a few times like they told me...still stuck on Pause mode, no response.

I have the 20 gig model that I bought in Feb of 2004, so it's before the click wheel and supposedly might have the old battery issues. About 15 minutes later, the Pod did unfreeze itself, going completely blank and telling me it had no power--which was odd, as it was fully charged when I started my run. Luckily, I didn't lose my data, everything is as it was before it started acting crazy. So....has anyone else had anything similar happen? Any ideas would be appreciated, since I'd like to prevent that from happening again!

1. Have you tried a reset?

For Early iPods(The iPod, iPod with Scroll Wheel and iPod with Touch Wheel):

Turn the Hold switch on, then turn it off again.

Hold down the Play/Pause and Menu buttons until the Apple appears, "around 6 to 10 seconds" according to Apple.

For Later iPods (The iPod with Click Wheel, iPod photo, and iPod mini):

Turn the Hold switch on, then turn it off again.

Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple appears, again, roughly 6 to 10 seconds.

Didn't work?

Make sure the iPod has power by connecting to your power adapter. Try repeating it a couple times before you give up and starting thinking about restoring your iPod.

Some of your custom settings missing? Sorry about that, but it's pretty normal when you reset your iPod. None of your music or other files will be wiped. (If you run a restore on your iPod, all of them will be wiped!)

Your iPod doesn't work even after a reset? Then it's probably time to try to restore your iPod with the iPod Updater.

. . .

2. Delete the Sum 41.
just kidding. Try holding down the middle button and the area that says menu. I think that worked in the old days.
