I finished "Me Talk Pretty One Day" this morning. I read it WAY too fast and now I'm pissed I didn't make it last longer. I was up until 1 am reading it.

I was laughing so hard at certain parts ("Sometimes me cry alone at night") that I woke my husband up and my eyes were so teary I couldn't see the page. He was pissed. He thought I was laughing that hard at Benny Hill. Yeah, RIGHT.

So I tried to stifle the laughter and he woke up again growling "I can FEEL the bed shaking."

I apologized and went out to the living room to read. Where I howled.

I've made it my mission to read every word he's ever written. As soon as possible. He calls himself stupid in that book, but I swear he's a genius.

P.S. Did anyone know "Me Talk Pretty One Day" is being made into a film?

1. I like him. I like his sister. My sister LOVES him.
Yeah, David Sedaris is a genius. He is one. funny. guy.

I used to think the following was from him, and now I can't remember who it is from. The guy is gay and apparently somewhat fashion conscious. But he's been invited on a hike, something he's never done and is rather afraid of, so he goes out to get some hiking boots, which he thinks are hideous. He says (para),

"It occurs to me that the shoes I wouldn't be caught dead in may actually be the shoes I am caught dead in."

3. OK HOLD ON HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE!!
WAIT A SECOND. His sister was the kooky main character on Strangers with Candy?

Fucking fuck! I had no idea! Here I was reading stories about her in his book and I didn't know that was the same woman I loved in SWC.

Geez. I am so blown away by this, I officially love him more, if that's possible.

5. I know but that shouldn't stop him from conceiving a child, right?
Is he still with Hugh, you think?

8. I think they're still together
David S. writes pieces for the New Yorker frequently, and Hugh featured prominently recently.

I loved the nudist colony chapter from Naked. Also love anything on The Rooster. And the stuff about his crazy Greek grandmother when she lived with them was so funny/disturbing.

He's so great.

9. Naked is a great book.
I love when he describes the pregnant angry woman on the bus.
I had a friend read me that story over the phone and I had to go get that book the next day.
