Help me, please!
I am just about ready to give up.
To give up on politics, to give up on hoping things will get better, to give up on the belief that more people are good, caring & kind than are selfish, mean & greedy.
I am sick of seeing negativity (I know I'm being negative now) and the brainless me, me, me our society has become.
I am so tired of so many being so cruel & self absorbed that they do not care what is happening to people they see every day let alone people on the other side of the world.
Someone please tell me I am wrong.

1. Hey you! I'm standing here still...right beside you, with a whole bunch
of other people. I'm not going to say that you're wrong, it's just a tough battle. But, together with all of us, we'll make a change. I know it.

2. Thanks, I am usually an upbeat person.
But the last few weeks have kinda kicked my ass.
I am sitting at my desk over my lunch, listening to Byrd speak on CSPAN2 & just sobbing.

3. To make things better, you have to be better.
To see more good and caring, you have to be good and caring.
To see less negativity, you have to be less negative.

This is the only way it works. If you give up, others give up. Others feed off of the energy you put out, if it is good, good will come. You may never see the good that comes, but it is there.

Hold that thought and keep moving forward.

5. I was going to mention that I have days when I see myself being
almost overly nice in order to get that back. It does work...but I couldn't figure out a way to say it. You did very well, thanks!

11. You're welcome.

A friend had a "pay it forward" experience, where later (20 years later) he heard how something he did for someone had affected that person and heard it through a mutual friend.

It really does work.

:)

4. We need to take care of ourselves so we can enjoy it when this fog
has lifted. Try to find more folks like yourself. And take all the hugs you can get. I have those days when I'm ready to give up too.

7. You're wrong. Come sit by me.
Nothing worth doing ever comes easily. The Republicans in Florida twelve years ago were where the Democrats are today. We CAN turn it around despite being not only a minority party but facing a Republican SuperMajority in our state legislature. See here http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=145x4526

I have seen such activism in the last six months as I have never seen before. The tide is turning, the pendulum is swinging back, reason will prevail!

10. It can become overwhelming some days
You might need a break from things. Personally, I believe the world has been messed up for a long long time, but things like the Internet bring it all too close.
I think there are a lot of great people, good deeds and other positive things happening every day. I would suggest a little rest from it all, then come out swingin' again.
