4. My choices
Edited on Sun Jul-20-03 02:11 PM by philosophie_en_rose
I started this thread, because I was so impressed with Gary Hart and hope that he is involved in the next administration. Because this is my fantasy team, I'll ignore the likelihood of certain combinations.

President of the United States: Howard Dean
Vice President: John Kerry
Speaker of the House: Jim McDermott
(National Security Advisor): Gary Hart
(White House Press Secretary): Al Sharpton
(Supreme Court Justice): Replace Scalia with Bill Clinton.
Secretary of Defense: Wesley Clark
Attorney General: John Edwards
Secretary of Homeland Security: Bob Graham
Secretary of Labor: Dennis Kucinich
Secretary of Veterans' Affairs: Max Cleland

5. OK, My List...
Edited on Sun Jul-20-03 02:32 PM by tsipple
President: Howard Dean
Vice President: Mary Landrieu
Speaker of the House: Nancy Pelosi
President Pro Tem of the Senate: Robert Byrd
National Security Advisor: Madeline Albright
White House Chief of Staff: Joe Trippi
White House Press Secretary: Nancy Skinner (if she doesn't win her Senate bid)
FCC Commissioners: Chelsea Clinton and Lawrence Lessig
Supreme Court Justices: Laurence Tribe (replacing Reinquist), William Jefferson Clinton (replacing O'Connor), Anita Hill (replacing Stevens)
Secretary of State: Al Gore
Secretary of the Treasury: Lawrence Summers (bring 'em back from Harvard)
Secretary of Defense: Wesley Clark
Attorney General: Vernon Jordan
Secretary of Homeland Security: None. (Department abolished.)
Secretary of the Interior: Gary Locke
Secretary of Agriculture: either Ben Cohen or Jerry Greenfield (of ice cream fame)
Secretary of Commerce: Gary Hirshberg (CEO Stonyfield Farms)
Secretary of Labor: Richard Gephardt
Secretary of Health and Human Services: Elizabeth Birch (Human Rights Campaign Executive Director)
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Carol Moseley-Braun
Secretary of Transportation: Michael Dukakis
Secretary of Energy: Gray Davis
Secretary of Education: Paul Vallas (former Chicago Schools Superintendant)
Secretary of Veterans' Affairs: Colin Powell (keep your friends close and your enemies even closer...) or former Nebraska senator Bob Kerry.

Top that, DUers! :-)

(On edit: added Nancy Skinner. I agree Max Cleland deserves the Veterans' Affairs post. Democrats have lots of great choices there -- fewer chickenhawks. Minimum he should get a choice ambassadorship. Also Margarethe Cammermeyer as Army Secretary. Also changed Breyer to Stevens. Meant Stevens, due to age risk.)

6. Nice list for the most part
But why would you want to replace Breyer? Granted, he's not a leftie, but he ain't Scalia or Thomas either. And if we're talking realm of possible or probable, Kennedy would retire before Breyer. Just wondering...

And I'd put Mario Cuomo on the Court and dream of Jim McDermott as Speaker.
