Poll question: Star Wars fans: I have a dilemma
Edited on Wed May-18-05 02:04 PM by cassandra uprising
What would you do if your significant other went to see Star Wars tomorrow without you?

Details:

Your SO can see the first show time and you can't.

Your SO is a bigger SW fan, but you're really excited about it too.

1. tell them to grow up
And learn about patience and sacrifice. Hey, aren't those big themes of the Star Wars movies anyway? :-)

My wife and I never watch any movie, even on cable, that we know we both would like to see, without the other.

2. Not acceptable.
No way is he seeing it first without me! The first viewing has to be together.

I'm still trying to work out how/when. We can't see it this weekend because my parents will be in town for my daughter's graduation, and then my daughter is going on vacation with her dad, so we won't have a babysitter.

10. Thank you, and someone had to do it. My serious answer would
be hit him where it hurts the most. His wallet. Let him go see the midnight one, it's an experience thing and it'd be the nice thing to do. Then have him take you again when you can both go. Then spring the Shanghai Surprise.

Ask for Popcorn. And a coke. :hurts:

We share wallets.

Plus Chavez is one of those wankers who talks during movies. If I saw it with him being privy to the events, I don't know if I'd enjoy it as much.

18. well, if you put it that way
I was going to say let him go first and then you two see it together later... but, if he really is one of those wankers that talks during movies, then your only alternative is to go with a local guy whose wife has no interest in Star Wars. ;-)

Just kidding, of course.

I actually have a good friend coming home tomorrow after being in a physical therapy rehab center for the better part of the past 3 months.

How about a d20 roll-off? If you roll higher, he has to wait for you... if not, then his choice.

29. well, one thing is for sure
One thing is for sure, having been playing D&D since the late 70s, the geeky side of me tends to remember any female that is even remotely connected to the genre. Women are very rare in D&D, though not nearly as rare as they were 20-25 years ago...

the guy I mentioned in my previous post about coming home from rehab is actually the DM of my last gaming group back when I had time to be a regular player. I'll have to ask him if he's really coming home to see Star Wars.

32. Yep, I've always been *that* girl.
I had fun gaming. A lot of my guy friends were into it and it was pretty the case of, if I wanted to hang out, I had to learn how to play. I enjoyed it but it was hard to be taken seriously because I was such a novelty. Then they started getting into Axis and Allies and they lost me on that one. It's been a long time since I've gamed. I hope your friend can see Star Wars with you! You must have a nice friendship. Good DM'a are a rare breed.

22. Let him go, you can go with him later, if he's anything like my SO,
he'll want to see it more than once anyway.

My SO is going to see it at 12:01 tonight (tomorrow morning, whatever) and I just refuse to go to the first show and put up with a packed theatre and miss work tomorrow, so he's going with his buddies to the first show, and we'll hit a matinee together this weekend.

If he can go and you can't and he's a bigger SW geek than you, let him go, then tease him mercilessly about what a geek he is. That's what I'm doing and the incessant mockery today has been loads of fun.
