How would you rate DU today compared to 6 months or a 1 ago?

I've only been able to check in here and there over the last few months, so my impressions of DU as a community are 100% anecdotal. So I'm asking those of you who have been around for awhile: How do you think the site stands up today?

You can use any criteria you like, whether it be the amount of posts, the quality of the posts, the intimacy of the interaction, the community feel, the progress of using DU to organize, ect.

I know everyone will have a slightly different take on this, so I'm hoping there's kind of a broad consensus among long time DU'ers in either one direction or another.

Any insight will be greatly appreciated! :)

I'm not exactly a long time DU'er, but it seems not quite the same.

all the same gripes, soap operas, kiss-and-make ups. Some involving the same people

People are always the basically the same everywhere ...

Things really went nutz before/during and after the Primaries.......Now things frequently reverts back to old behavior now and then.

9. 3 years ago it was literary and thoughtful

I was too intimidated to post...in some ways better...some ways much worse.

10. Hear ! Hear ! Literary and Thoughtful, Yes ! Then came the Primaries

and the great Flame (Dean v. Kerry ) Wars...some never survived or just left...it is VERY different today, sadly...my wife and I have really withdrawn from the DU community especially since November. We were both Greeks in college,thus, our fraternal desires have been fulfilled 30 years ago.

:shrug: To put it concisely, there is no middle ground anymore...either Hardcore or Pure Nonsense.

12. I Think there are Two Distinct "DU Eras"

After the 2000 election was the "First Era' where there was lots of organizing and going to political events that would later recess into social gatherings. The 2nd era is upon us (and changing as I write) the Post RE-election era. Different folks, with much different attitudes.

I still read LBN and the GD politics,but, that's all; running a staff of 350 nurses is enough soap for one person.
